Setting up your "wallpaper" on a PC
(For a Mac, check your manual.)

When you start up your computer, there is a picture (or blank screen) showing in the background. In computer-speak, this picture is called "wallpaper" because it acts as a background for whatever icons you have on your screen.  You can make your background display a photo of a P-38 if you'd like.  It looks terrific -- much better than just a boring, solid color.  To make a P-38 your background display, do the following:

Newer Windows Systems:
When you're using Internet Explorer, you can place your mouse cursor over the following picture and choose "set as background" option (make sure to wait until the entire picture has downloaded before clicking).

Older Windows Systems:

  1. Right click on the above picture and choose the "Save Picture As" option.  Save the picture to someplace where you can easily find it during the next steps.
  2. Open Display in Control Panel.  (To open Display, click Start, click Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes, and then click Display.)
  3. On the Desktop tab, click "Browse" to find the picture you just saved above. In Position, click Center, Tile, or Stretch.
  4. Select a color from Desktop color. The color fills the space not used by a picture.

PS -- We'll be adding more wallpapers as we go along...so check back.
