P-38 National Association PO Box
6453 March ARB, CA 92518 PROSPECTIVE MEMBER – EVERYONE WELCOME! We happily welcome all prospective members to the P-38 National Association. The purpose of our organization is to preserve and perpetuate the memory of that classic World War II military aircraft, the Lockheed P-38 Lightning, for future generations. There are currently over 1,000 members, who either have “hands-on” experience with or are dedicated fans of this state-of-the-art airplane. The P-38 was not just a fighter; it was also utilized extensively as a bomber, carrying bomb loads of up to 4,000 pounds, and was one of WWII’s most successful and widely used photo reconnaissance aircraft (designated for that purpose F-4 and F-5). The Lightning was the plane flown and preferred by America’s two top fighter aces—Dick Bong and Tom McGuire, with 40 and 38 victories, respectively. Our
hands-on members include former USAAF pilots, mechanics, armorers, cooks and
administrative personnel of the many units that flew and/or supported the
P-38. They also include Women’s Air Service Pilots (WASPs), civilian
technical representatives and men and women who helped build the P-38 and/or
manufacture its various parts. Other members are relatives of these hands-on
Lightning veterans, P-38 When you are ready to join, please fill out as completely as possible the application form with which you are being provided. We have founded the P-38 National Association, with its museum, website and Lightning Strikes newsletter, to preserve indefinitely the history of the Lockheed Lightning. If you would like to make a donation to support this goal, over and above your dues, there is a provision for that, too, on the application form. We are a non-profit organization, and such donations may be tax deductible (please consult your tax advisor).
DON’T FORGET TO FILL OUT THE APPLICATION ON THE REVERSE SIDE
